Tuesday 9th March - bike ***** - Around Felixstowe including lunch with ‘Emily’ – sunny and mild.

What a beautiful day, wall to wall sunshine, mild with light winds perfect for bike riding before the rain and strong winds arrive! I even managed to do my exercises out in the back garden with the two kittens mainly busying themselves chasing fly’s, luckily the birds seem too wise for them! With tuna pasta packed Mag and I leave home a little earlier than usual at 11.45 avoiding the prom which was probably busy by heading through the town past the lady painting the mural just past the Co-op. Then down along the side of the Grove Park with the sky a deep blue, just stunning, shorts on too:) Down Marsh Lane to Kingsfleet with the farm gate open for a change, a quick look at the River Deben with the tide low but no birds in the mud. Up past the Fleet with a few swans taking to the air and then onto the lovely Falkenham Church with a few daffodils with the snowdrops:) Our seat was once again free and we sat for ages enjoying our three-course picnic with fantastic views, buzzards calling above, pigeons feeding and even a deer makes an appearance but sadly no hare anywhere today! After a long break in the sun, we continue down the farm tracks and footpaths now nicely dried out coming out at Kirton Church. Then onto Trimley, over the A 14 to Grimston Lane hoping to see the deer in the three-tree field, our luck was in and there must have been 30 in a tight ball laying in the middle of the field including one white one:) Home along Trimley High Road to put my boards back on my windsurf trailer hoping to get out later in the week when things calm down a little as the smallest sail I can rig at the moment is 5.8 as I have broken my 4m mast. I am currently looking for a Tushinghan Freewave 75% 4 and 4.30 masts as well as some Tushingham Lightning sails to replace my worn-out ones plus a Slingshot Infinity 65 front wing to try and add a few knots to my top speed, expensive times ahead! So, a top 5 stat bike ride enjoying the best that Suffolk has to offer, out three hours covering nearly 15 miles, looking like rain all day tomorrow so probably wont get out at all!
